This is my grid assignment. I used the netting sac you buy oranges in as my grid, and took a picture of it on top of an orange folder as a background so you can see the image of the face better. I used sharpies and paint to create the image of a female face on the netting. She has full, slightly opened lips, eyebrows, eyes with blue irises, and freckles on her cheeks. I found the most difficult part of this assignment to be the initial task of finding an actual grid to work with. I also tried to be extremely precise when creating the face on the grid. I used rulers and even counted the spaces on the netting to be more exact when drawing each feature. I think it came out OK, but I now wish I had created an actual background for the piece myself to better enhance it and make it easier to see the image.

Even though it was hard to see and some elements were missing, it was a great idea. Plus it forces the viewer to interact, and even though the black didn't show very well, still. It was a great idea on it's own, I'm sorry it didn't work out to how you felt it would have been great.
ReplyDeleteI thought your project was so creative! I'm sure more could have been done with it, but all in all it was pretty good.
ReplyDeletethis was a cool idea. i wish you had mounted it on something that made the colors pop a little more but it was a really good idea
ReplyDeleteI think the grid you chose to work with was very interesting. I think it could have been better if it was easier to see.
ReplyDeleteI thought using an orange bag was a really good example of a grid. The face was really cute but just a little hard to see.
ReplyDeletei liked how yo u came up with the idea of using an orange bag, that was thinking outside the box, i would have never thought of doing that. the face on it was really neat i thought, just could have been a little more bolder or something to make it stick out more.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely thought like me by using something that was in our dorm room. The orange bag was genius and i never looked at it as a grid before you used it in your project. I love the woman face on it, a little hard to see but still a great project!
ReplyDeleteHey, I liked that you used orange wrapping "sheet" to made your grid out of it, and I think that was very creatiive. I wish I could see the eyes little better, maybe if it had darker or lighter background, but still it was a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI liked that you took a natural grid from an everyday object and turned it into art. I would imagine that it could have been a pretty frustrating material to work with, but you did a great job.
ReplyDeletemounting it on something to show the image more clearly would have been great but i really liked how you used something that normally would be just thrown away like a fruit holder or whatever you call it
